The Foundation is a non-profit fundraising organization created by a caring community to help support its local hospital.  In 1982, a concerned and dedicated Calaveras County community recognized the need and started organizing the first Hospital Foundation. In 1984, it became a reality and within two years, the Foundation raised $92,000 to purchase and install the first mammography equipment in Calaveras County.  Since then, the Foundation has been instrumental in acquiring various equipment, updating patient care rooms, and donating $1 million dollars to the MTSJH Building Fund. 

New members are always welcome. In order to become a member, one need only apply, pledge moral support to MTSJH, and help with fundraising activities. If you are interested, you may do so by clicking on the Contact the Foundation link on the left side of this page.

A gift is often made because of a pure and simple desire to do good, to help others.  It may come from a personal reaction to the care and concern given by the hospital staff or in appreciation of a physician or nurse. The gift can come from community pride or simply the desire to perpetuate quality medical care.

MTSJH faces daunting challenges to maintain its goals of quality patient care as medical costs continue to rise and sources of funding are steadily declining.  In order to meet its commitment to the community's healthcare needs, your generosity ensures that the hospital will continue to provide the finest quality health care available.

A cash gift by check is the most common method of making a contribution to the Foundation.  By giving a cash donation, it gives immediate financial support and gives you income tax savings. An gift of undeveloped land or developed property is generally fully deductible for its current fair market value. Some employers have matching gift programs that will match your gift to Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation.  Please check with your employer. A philanthropic gift that can save lives, without using your current assets, can be made by bequething part of your estate to MTSJ Hospital Foundation.  A deferred gift in support of MTSJH enables the hospital to plan for the future.

Our Tribute and Memorial programs provide you with the opportunity to give a gift of lasting value.  When you send us a charitable gift as a memorial or tribute, the Foundation will send a card to the person or family you designate, notifying them of your thoughtful contribution.  The amount you give is always confidential.
